Kevin
M. Carr

In June 2009, Kevin Carr was appointed Interim President and CEO of KTEC.
Carr has been involved with virtually
every aspect of KTEC since its inception. As one of
the original team members, Carr has managed seed capital,
business development, university grant programs and
strategic planning efforts.
Prior to his interim CEO appointment, Carr held the position of chief operating officer. As COO, he was responsible for strategic direction and oversight of Kansas’ EPSCoR matching fund, as well as a network of five university-based Centers of Excellence, each of which have an economic development mission.
Working closely with university researchers
and administrators, incubators, and other business assistance
and investment resources, Carr has considerable experience
as a liaison between emerging technology companies and
the research assets of the state’s universities,
and has been closely involved with the process of translating
university research into commercial outcomes.
In his capacity with the EPSCoR
program, he worked closely with the various state directors,
lead researchers, and leading technology companies to
improve the state’s infrastructure for technology-based
economic development. He has been a catalyst for structuring
of commercially-relevant programs at the Centers of
Excellence.
Carr holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University and a Masters in Economic Geography from the University of Kansas.
