KTEC clients, ICE Corporation and NanoScale Corporation both from Manhattan, Kan., were recently named finalists for the Governor's Exporter of the Year Award, one of the highest honors a business can receive from the State.
The winner will be announced by Governor Kathleen Sebelius at the annual Kansas Cavalry Encampment, the State's foremost business awards ceremony, on June 17, 2008 at Emporia State University.
The event is sponsored by the Kansas Cavalry, a volunteer organization of business and economic leaders who work to promote Kansas as an attractive location for business.
The Governor's Exporter of the Year award is presented annually to a single Kansas company that has demonstrated excellence in export sales.

Taylor's leadership role in creating the Kansas Economic Growth Act contributes to recognition
KansasBio recently announced the 2008 Big Thinkers in Bioscience at the Stower's Institute of Medical Research. The Kansas Bioscience Big Thinkers are individuals whose groundbreaking leadership in bioscience innovation has contributed to bioscience research, commercialization, policy, investment, industry growth and expansion in the state.

Kansas Ranks 3rd in High Tech Growth Wages
AeA, the largest high-tech trade association in the United States, has ranked Kansas 3rd nationally in the area of high-tech wage growth from 2001-2006, in a recent study. Kansas' tech wages have grown 15.5 percent in the past five years.
According to AeA, tech wages in many states have followed the national pattern, peaking in 2000, declining in the subsequent years, and currently rebounding. Nationwide, 47 of the 52 states had average high-tech wages that were 50 percent higher than private sector wages.
The study, Cyberstates 2008: A Complete State-by-State Overview of the High-Technology Industry, is the 11th annual edition and examines the high-technology industry in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It provides new 2007 national data on tech employment and venture capital investments. It also includes the latest data on high-tech wages, establishments, payroll and research and development (R&D) expenditures.

Come Home to Kansas: The Home of Champions
Preparations are underway for Kansas' presence at BIO 2008, San Diego, CA
KTEC is proud to announce its sponsorship of Kansas at the BIO 2008 Convention in San Diego, June 17 -20, 2008.
KTEC's sponsorship role in the past two years, both in Chicago and Boston, helped Kansas garner significant attention International Convention – bolstering the image of Kansas as a bioscience leader and a “go to” place for bioscience companies, strategic partners for Kansas companies and investors looking for dedication and opportunity to grow the biosciences.
New for the convention, is the 2008 BIO Career Fair, a one day event on Monday, June 16 from 3-8 p.m. at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. The career fair gives the opportunity to network, talk about Kansas’ strengths in the biosciences, conduct interviews and post available jobs on the event web site.
KTEC is working closely with KansasBio in promoting the "Come Home to Kansas" initiative to showcase the high-level careers available in the bioscience and information technology areas. In addition to the BIO Career Fair, employers can utilize the Kansas Pavilion on Wednesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 19 for follow-up interviews with prospects.

Kansas named a “Top 10 Pro-Business State”
Kansas has achieved the ranking of a top 10 pro-business state, in a new 50-state survey published by a leading national corporate relocation firm. This is the second time that Kansas has made the list, considered the “gold standard” by American business leaders.
"As the nation’s economy continues to struggle, in Kansas we’ve made smart investments in our schools and workers while making strategic tax cuts to create jobs. As a result, the Kansas economy remains strong,” said Governor Kathleen Sebelius.
