Miriam Ubben Joins KTEC as Vice Presdient of Policy

KTEC has named Miriam Ubben as the organization’s Vice President of Policy. Ubben will oversee the “Come Home to Kansas” initiative, as well as the recently created Kansas Information Technology Association.

Ubben comes to KTEC following an engagement at the Entrepreneurial Development Center (EDC) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As Vice President of Capital Formation her focus was on matching clients to capital; raising funds for the EDC's angel capital fund; and securing funds at the local, state and federal level to support EDC's initiatives. Prior to joining the EDC, she was President of Blue Ocean Ventures, a for-profit business accelerator that provided strategic resources to companies.

Ubben also served as President of the Software and Information Technology of Iowa (SITI). SITI specialized in tech based economic development and services for Iowa's software and information technology industry. During her tenure, she built a strong industry trade association that passed legislation, created and supported new technology businesses, and brought new sources of venture and angel capital to Iowa's 2,900 software and information technology companies.

“We are excited to have Miriam join the KTEC organization and are confident that her experience with the information technology industry will have a positive impact on the state of Kansas,” said Tracy Taylor, President and CEO of KTEC.

An Iowa native, Ubben has served on various boards and committees throughout Iowa and was a Governor's appointee to the Iowa Access Advisory Committee. Ubben served on the Executive Committee of the National Council of Regional Information Technology Associations, the Council on Competitiveness (Finance Committee), and was V-Chair of the Iowa SBDC Advisory Council.

“KTEC has given me a great opportunity to help build the information technology industry trade association in Kansas and I am looking forward to the challenge,” said Miriam Ubben, Vice President of Policy at KTEC.
Ubben holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Grand View College, Des Moines, Iowa and attended MBA classes at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.
