Small Business Assistance

	Kauffman Foundation Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership The Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Inc. is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational institution funded by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. The center contributes to healthy economic communities by nurturing and encouraging entrepreneurial leadership.
	U.S. Small Business Administration The U.S. Small Business Administration, established in 1953, provides financial, technical and management assistance to help Americans start, run, and grow their businesses.
	Biotechnology Development Center of Greater Kansas City is a community-based wet lab incubator that provides high-growth potential companies with the resources they need for the development and commercialization of biotechnology products and services. Located in Kansas City, Kansas, the Biotechnology Development Center features 6,000 square feet of combined office and wet lab space, as well as telecommunications support, shared office services and shared lab services.

Economic Development Organizations

	Kansas City Area Development Council The Kansas City Area Development Council is a private, non-profit organization that works to attract job-creating investment to the 15-county, bi-state Kansas City Area.
	Kansas Department of Commerce KDOC provides business assistance, information, and funding to non-technology small businesses in the state. KDOC also recruits corporations to establish facilities in Kansas, provides job training programs, and operates international programs designed to facilitate import/export opportunities for Kansas companies.
	Kansas, Inc. Kansas, Inc's mission is to build a strong, diversified economy that promotes new and existing industries. Kansas, Inc. has three primary activities: planning and policy research to formulate and update a statewide economic development strategy; recommending program and public policy initiatives; and, conducting oversight and evaluation of strategy implementation.
	MoFAST The Missouri SBIR/STTR program, MoFAST, is designed to stimulate technological innovation, partner with small businesses to meet federal research and development needs, encourage the participation of disadvantaged businesses and minority-owned firms in technological innovation, and increase private sector commercialization derived from federal research and development funding. This program offers small technology companies the opportunity to obtain seed capital for research and development early in the innovation process. The goal of MoFAST is to help Missouri companies compete for SBIR/STTR awards by providing assistance, mentoring and financial support.
	South Central Kansas Economic Development District, Inc. The SCKEDD's goal is to provide professional leadership and technical assistance in finance packaging and advice, and procedures to individuals, companies and government agencies for the purpose of stimulating the economy within a 14 county area.
	State Science and Technology Institute The State Science and Technology Institute is a non-profit corporation designed to enhance government-industry programs, particularly those at the state level, that encourage the growth of business and industry through the application of science and technology.

	Advanced Technology Program The ATP is a unique partnership between government and private industry to accelerate the development of high-risk technologies that promise significant commercial payoffs and widespread benefits for the economy.
	Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute The Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute (KCALSI) is a non-profit organization assisting with the transformation of Kansas City into a center for excellence in life sciences research and development.
	National Institute of Standards and Technology An agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Technology Administration, NIST's primary mission is to promote U.S. economic growth by working with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements, and standards.

Venture Capital Organizations

	National Association of Seed & Venture Funds The National Association of Seed and Venture Funds is an organization of private, public and nonprofit organizations committed to building their local economies by investing and facilitating investment in local entrepreneurs.
	National Venture Capital Association The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) is the trade association that represents the venture capital industry. Its membership consists of venture capital firms and organizations who manage pools of risk equity capital designated to be invested in young, emerging companies.
